New York City is awful in the rain. For one, it smells. There is no “fresh scent of rain” – it’s a constant smell of “wet garbage.” Puddles form everywhere including places that defy the laws of physics which turns the walking part of my commute into real life Minesweeper (anyone else play that in computer class circa 1998? I was a boss).

More importantly, WHY DO I NEVER KNOW ABOUT RAIN COMING?! Seriously, maybe I’m inept at reading the weather forecast, but I am constantly unprepared for it. I have no umbrella, ruined shoes, and my clothes are stuck to me by the end of it. Yet, every woman in New York City stays gorgeous.

It happened again today. I walked outside for lunch and everyone is carrying an umbrella. I, as usual, had no idea it was supposed to rain. So, if I had 100 dollars today, I would buy this. If my umbrella was this adorable, I would 1. Never forget it (because, lets be serious, nothing Dooney & Burke deserves to be in a closet) and 2. Be more NYC woman, less drowned cat.

Unprepared as always.

  1. Haha! That poor kitty. I never have an umbrella but I don’t mind the rain either. Think it makes me look like a boss not using one! Haha! Kidding, I always forget mine too!

  2. That is a super cute umbrella! We are supposed to get rain tomorrow and I am SO excited! Only because the rain will help keep the pollen down, it’s the reason my allergies are killing me.
My other half and I just started watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix and we really like it! (You are a no-reply blogger so I can’t email you back.)
